Hope Cottage is a 200 year old, two bedroom, cosy stone holiday cottage with an open fire. It is in a peaceful and secluded location in Totnes, a stone's throw from the beautiful river Dart, but only a few yards from the bustling shops and lively night life of Totnes. A wonderful place to relax or spend a family holiday. Totnes has a unique blend of bohemia and tradition.
Hope Cottage is nestled in the charmingly quaint Ticklemoor Street - one of the real hidden gems of Totnes and home to a wonderful cheese shop.
Hope Cottage and its courtyard garden (perfect for soaking up the sun) is tucked behind a secure red wooden door set into a 15ft high solid wall. We love this part of Totnes but you don't have to just take our word for it this Gardian Journalist raves about it as well.
Hope Cottage is a fine base for exploring. Start with the town and its high street of independent shops, cafes and art galleries to suit every taste. The old walls and the castle date back to medieval times and the museum and Guild Hall are a wealth of imformation. you can wander further afield on the walking and cylcing paths that take you downstream along the River Dart to the Vineyards of the Sharpham Estateor upstream to the arts centre and gardens of the Dartington Estate and the shops and cafes at the Cider Press Centre.
Just over the bridge, is the ferry where you can take a magical trip down the Dart Valley for a day out to Dartmouth, or stop at Dittisham and Greenway (home of the late Agatha Christie).
Or just take some time to rest and relax in our cosy cottage which has an eclectic country style of decor and a very equipped kitchen and lounge. Plenty of good books on hand to brouse through and enjoy.
